Silent Justice
Humans are cruel. To Aurelia that is an indisputable fact. Justice is only a pretty word. That’s another fact to Aurelia. She reaps the consequences of revenge when she is admited to the psychiatric unit of Firefly Hospital. In an enviroment as restrictive as this one, it is no surprise when trouble crops up at every corner. Aurelia has to juggle the obsessive attention of one and her growing feelings for another, as well as the neglect of the hospital staff. It is inevitable that something gives and give it does. After one to many transgression against the people Aurelia has found herself caring for, she decides to take justice into her own hands once again. How many people will be hurt this time?
Aurelia Sanchez is a character created from my nightmares. I have been let down by so many medical professionals and peers throughout my life. Sometimes I wondered how my life could have turned out if I didn’t have the support system I had. What could have happened if I lost my love for the world? That’s how Aurelia was born. She has since then developed much further than I ever thought she would and is a character completely separate from me. It was interesting to watch her story develop because at times even I didn’t know what would happen.
I wanted to draw attention to the failures of the medical system. I cannot count the number of times I or someone close to me has been dismissed by a medical professional. They love to think they know our bodies better than us. I drove that point to the extreme to showcase the danger of that. Someone with bad experiences could close themselves off and refuse life-saving medical treatment. Or, they could decide they no longer tolerate this and turn to violence. Now, even in midst of the sea of bad experiences, there are medical professionals out there who do an amazing job. Please medical staff, listen to your patients.

Aurelia loves learning. She used to spend so many afternoons in the library trying to learn anything that interested her. In university she took as many electives as she could.

Yixuan once stayed awake for almost six days straight. He hallucinated that a group of aliens came to him and told him about a prophecy to save the earth. He did not remember the prophecy when he woke up again.
When Yixuan gets sick he cooks himself classic egg drop soup and bundles himself up in a blanket on his couch. He heard someone say that their mother did that for them and that it helped them to get better. He was very surprised when it actually worked.

Yameen used to hate cooking because his foster parents would always watch him closely when he did it. His favourite chore was grocery shopping because it meant he would finally get out of the house. He only learned to love making food when he was allowed his own space to do so.
His childhood dream was to open a garden centre in the city. His marketing strategy would have been to sell small plants that are easy to take care of and fit in well with almost any kind of decor. He hoped to make the city a little greener that way and bring peace back to the people.
When Yameen gets to leave Firefly, he wants to take a class on making your own tea blends with Aurelia and spoil all their friends with specialised teas.

If Jaden had to pick one thing he hates the most about Firefly, it would be the constant physical activities they have to do. He despises any kind of physical activity that is not swimming.
